Yesterday (10/10/07) I participated in a Round Table Discussion on Innovation and ICT (information and communications technology). Held at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), the event was organized by the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) and the Philippine Council for Advanced Science and Technology (PCASTRD) of the Department of Science and Technology.
I attended this workshop as a member of the Information Technology Technical Panel of PCASTRD, as an officer of the Computing Society of the Philippines (CSP) and an ACM ICPC director in the Philippines.
The Round Table Discussion on Innovation and ICT is considered a pre-summit event in relation with the forthcoming National Innovation Summit (NIS) to be held on November 26, 2007.

The expected outputs of the workshop include identification of bottlenecks to innovation activities, development of recommendations for quick-wins and policies, and drawing up of strategic steps in creating an innovation ecosystem for the ICT/ICT-Enabled Services sectors. These will all become part of the National Innovation Roadmap, which will be presented during the NIS.
