BACKGROUND:

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has an important role in healthcare delivery, especially in many developing countries and communities.

The International Symposium on ICT For Health (ICT4Health 2008) aims to provide a forum for research and information exchange among healthcare practitioners, ICT professionals, researchers, faculty, students and various institutions engaged in ICT and Health (academe, government, industry, NGOs, etc.)

ICT4Health 2008 will be held in conjunction with the 4th ONCO-MEDIA Project Meeting in Asia. ONCO-MEDIA (http://www.onco-media.com/) is an international research collaboration on biomedical applications of Grid technology funded by the ICT Asia Regional Program of the French Government.

ICT4Health 2008 also includes a Workshop on Apoptosis/Cancer.

ICT4Health 2008 is being sponsored by the French Embassy in Manila.

TOPICS:

ICT4Health 2008 will include (but are not limited to) the following topics:

· Biomedical Applications of Grid Computing
· Biomedical Imaging
· Computational Methods and Algorithms for Biomedical Applications
· ICT-facilitated Collaboration in Biomedical/Health Research
· ICT in Disease Prevention and Epidemiology
· Improvement of Healthcare Delivery Through ICT
· Information Retrieval/Data Mining for Health Applications
· Medical Databases
· Medical Informatics
· Medical Ontology
· Mobile and Wireless Applications for Health
· Modeling and Simulation in Medicine
· Using ICT in Remote Consultation, Diagnosis and Treatment
· Using ICT to Improve Public Health Systems
· Using ICT to Improve Medical Health Facilities

PAPERS/PRESENTATIONS:

Contributed papers/presentations on the symposium topics are being solicited.
Selected papers will be peer-reviewed and will be published in a special issueof the Philippine Information Technology Journal (PITJ) (provided that the papers are presented in ICT4Health 2008).

REGISTRATION FEES:

1. Foreign Participants: 100 U.S. Dollars ( 70 Euros or 11,500 Japanese Yen)

2. Local Participants:

Early Bird Registration Fee: PhP 2,500 ;
Regular Registration Fee: PhP 3,000
(Php = Philippine Peso)

NOTES:

1) The registration fee includes the following: snacks, lunch, symposium kit, and certificate of participation.

2) The registration fee does not include hotel accommodation and transportation expenses.

3) Check payments should be made payable to: ATENEO DE MANILA UNIVERSITY

4) Subsidies (reduced registration fee) will be given to students who will participate in ICT4Health. To apply for subsidy, contact Dr. Rafael Saldaña (see contact details below).
