Abstract:

Pedestrianology is an emergence new discipline that deals with the mathematical modeling of people movement behavior on every day life as well as during bigevents and emergency through the usage of recent pedestrian technology. It comes with several terms such as pedestrian dynamics, microscopic pedestrian, multi-agent pedestrian, and crowd dynamics.

This presentation attempts to give the current state of the art in pedestrianresearch and introduce some pedestrian related technologies such as counting,s imulation, tracking, and sensing devices, which include Multi agent simulation, video camera, wireless, and cell phone, GPS, GIS, RFID and others. The emphasize is on the broad spectrum of its practical applications for traffic accident, crowd control and emergency evacuation, stampede prevention, spatial marketing, park management, tourist guidance, and schoolchildren safety as well as queuing analysis in hospital, bank, supermarket, or public transportation facilities such as airport and railway station.

About the speaker:

Dr. Kardi Teknomo is a Hertha-Frinberg Research Fellow in Arsenal Research,Vienna, Austria. His research interests are concerned with modeling and simulation of human behavior and activities related to urban infrastructure development, planning, and design. His current research is on microscopic pedestrian simulations in relation to urban spatial models and urban traffic/transportation systems.
