Car Accidents in Metro Manila Are Common

While looking for articles related to car accidents (I just had a car accident recently, see http://raffysaldana.blogspot.com/2007/08/do-you-know-what-to-do-after-car.html ) I saw some statistics on car crashes in the U.S. (I wish I could find some statistics on car accidents in the Philippines):

Did you know that....

" Car Crash Stats: There were nearly 6,420,000 auto accidents in the United States in 2005. The financial cost of these crashes is more than 230 Billion dollars. 2.9 million people were injured and 42,636 people killed. About 115 people die every day in vehicle crashes in the United States -- one death every 13 minutes."

Just this morning (8/7/07) three car accidents were reported on the TV news: (1) a motorcycle hit a car, (2) the driver of a taxi cab had a heart attack and died, and the car hit several objects nearby, and (3) a Honda CRV turned turtle at the Commonwealth flyover due to slippery weather condition.

So the next time you drive, be careful and be prepared.
