Last May 6, 2008, Dr. Pablo Manalastas and I (representing the Computing Society of the Philippines) were invited by COMELEC (Commission on Elections) officials to attend the public viewing of election automation machines that were being bidded out to be used during the ARMM (Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao) Special elections in August 2008.
Before the public exhibit, Dr. Manalastas and I met with COMELEC Chair Jose Melo, Commissioner Rene Sarmiento, and other COMELEC officials to discuss the some technical aspects of election automation.
