Invitation: 8th ASEAN Science and Technology Conference

We are pleased to announce the holding of the 8th ASEAN Science and Technology Week (ASTW) Scientific and Technical Conference to be held on July 3-4, 2008 at Hotel Sofitel, Pasay City, Manila, Philippines.

Sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) as host of the 8th ASTW, the conference seeks to disseminate information on S&T developments and provide opportunities for interaction and collaboration among various stakeholders of S&T.

Some 300 participants from ASEAN member countries and ASEAN dialogue partners are expected to attend this event.

The Conference revolves on the theme, "ASEAN S&T: Addressing Regional and Global Challenges in the 21st Century" to highlight the strategic role of S&T in finding sustainable solutions to national and regional problems as well as facilitating regional integration for global competitiveness.

It features oral and poster presentations on the following topics: 1) Disaster Mitigation, 2)Alternative Energy, 3) Information and Communications Technology, 4) Functional Food, and 5)S&T Capacity Building.
